Clayton Crites

Mr. Clayton L. Crites, age 83, of Union Mills, Ind., died 11:08 PM Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born October 26, 1924 in Lutesville, Missouri to the late Osa Crites and the late Cora Elledge Crites. He has lived in the Union Mills area for over 50 years coming from Missouri. Mr. Crites retired in 1978 from Howmet Corp. after 29 years of service and was a member of Tracy United Methodist Church. He was also a Veteran of US Army during WW II., a member of the Masonic Lodge of Kingsbury, IN., V.F.W. Post #1130 of LaPorte, IN., American Legion Post of Kingsford Heights, and AARP. He was a dedicated husband and father. Enjoyed going to church and was maintenance Supervisor at the church for over 20 years. On February 16, 1944 in Corning Arkansas he married Maud Null who survives. He is also survived by his Two Daughters, Mrs. Donna Burkett of Leesburg, Fla., Mrs. Judy Harville of La Porte, Ind.; Seven grandchildren, Scott McGovern, James McGovern, Michelle Jarka, Keith Crone, Jacob Crone, Matthew Crone, Zachary Crone; Thirteen great-grandchildren; Three Brothers, Mr. Paul Crites of Independence, Mo., Mr. Glen Crites of Hamlet, Ind., and Mr. Donald Crites of Kingsford Heights, Ind. He is preceded in death by his parents and Three Brothers, Truman Crites, Clyde Crites, and Leeman Crites. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, January 4, 2008 and from 9:30 AM until time of the service on Saturday. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 5, 2008, Rev. Robert Coolman officiating. Interment will be at Union Mills Cemetery in Union Mills, Ind.
