Mr Clarence T. "Tom Dooley" Stewart, age 81, of LaPorte, Ind., died 10:58 pm Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Beverly LivingCenter -Fountainview in La Porte, Ind. He was born November 4, 1926 in Ashwood, Tenn. to the Charles Stewart Sr. and the late Anna Dee Riddell Stewart. He has lived in the LaPorte area most of his life coming from Tennessee. Mr Stewart was employed by LaPorte Community School Corp. and retired in 1988. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 38th Division serving in the Phillipines during WWII, A life member of the VFW Hubner Swanson Post #1130, and a member of the American Legion Hammond Gray Post #83. He was a member of the Honor Guard and volunteered with Van for Vets for 10 years. On December 21, 1957 in LaPorte, Ind. he married Helen O'Connell who preceded in death March 17, 1982. He is survived by One Brother, Mr. Charles Stewart, Jr. of Florida and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Wife, Parents, Four Sisters, Barbara Colburn, Betty Reffett, Lucy Belle Stewart and Anita Stewart. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, July 7, 2008 and from 9:00 am Tuesday until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 8, 2008, Rev. Linda S. Craig officiating. Interment will be at Patton Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
