Clarence Garwood

Mr. Clarence M. Garwood, age 83, of La Porte, Ind., died 11:30 PM Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at Beverly LivingCenter -Fountainview in LaPorte, Ind. He was born March 3, 1924 in LaPorte, Ind. to the late William Garwood and the late Elnora Erickson Garwood. He has been a LaPorte County resident all of his life. Mr. Garwood was a retired accountant for Bendix Corp. /Allied Signal and retired in the mid 1980's after 25 years of service. He started his career at Allis Chalmers Corp. after graduating from Valparaiso University. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Masonic Lodge of Westville Ind., Eastern Star #184 of Valparaiso, IN., and Phi Delta Kappa. He was a die-hard Cubs fan. He always had a story or joke for everyone he met to lighten their spirits. On September 17, 1950 in LaPorte, Indiana he married Mildred Bricker who survives. He is also survived by his One Daughter, Mrs. Patricia Don Laskowski of La Porte, Ind.; Two Sons, Mr. Gerald Jan Garwood of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Dale Lori Garwood of Granger, Ind.; Six grandchildren, Joseph Garwood, Ashlee Garwood, Emily Garwood, Jacob Garwood, Dan Davis, Dawn Komasinski; Five great-grandchildren; Two Sisters, Mrs. LaVina Richman of La Porte, Ind., and Mrs. Betty Hughes of La Porte, Ind. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday, December 14, 2007 and from Bethany Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM until time of the service on Saturday. Funeral service will be at Bethany Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 15, 2007, Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating. Interment will be at Carmel Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
