Clara Underwood

Clara D. Underwood, 95, of LaPorte, IN, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte. She was born June 7, 1916 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of William Wildfang and Dora (Baker) Wildfang. Clara retired in 1981, after working for fifteen years at Howmet Corp. She was a member of Tracy Immanuel Lutheran Church. Clara enjoyed gardening, traveling and taking care of her home. On August 12, 1938, in Tracy, Indiana, she married Frank Underwood who preceded her in death on September of 1972. She is survived by her daughter - Joan (LJ) Watson of Michigan City, IN; son - Darwin (Dorothy) Underwood of Union Mills, IN; 4 grandchildren - Bobby Watson of Michigan City, IN, Cindy Freeman of Michigan City, IN, Frank Underwood of Kingsford Heights, IN, Darla Stone of Rochester, IN; ten great grandchildren, and one sister - Anna Mason of La Porte, IN. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two great- grandchildren, two sisters, and two brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday June 30, 2011 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Union Mills Cemetery, Union Mills, IN.
