Clara Klonowski

Mrs. Clara E. Klonowski, 89, of 406 Park St., LaPorte, died Tuesday Nov. 23, 2004, at 2:54 a.m. at Waters of Duneland Nursing Home, Chesterton, IN. She was born Dec. 21, 1914, in Martinsville, IL., to James and Annie Chasser Maffitt, and has life in the LaPorte area since 1934 coming from Chicago, IL. Mrs. Klonowski retired from Howmet Corp. in 1984 after 25 years in the buffing and grinding department. She was a member of the First Christian Church of LaPorte, Past Chief of Pythian Sisters, and Past President of the VFW Aux. #1130 of LaPorte, IN. On Nov. 14, 1936, in LaPorte, IN., she married Isadore ?Zebe? Klonowski who preceded in death Aug. 22, 1979. She remarried Oct. 8, 1989 in LaPorte, IN. to Robert C. Stachviak who preceded in death Nov. of 2002. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two husbands; three sisters; and three brothers. Surviving are one daughter, Cheryle Young of Bourbonnais, IL.; one son, Bruce Klonowski of Elkhart, IN.; four grandchildren, Jeff Young, Jason Young, Jay Klonowski, and Katie Klonowski; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Saturday Nov. 27, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at the Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Rick Abbott officiating. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.
