Mr. Claire P. Long, age 90, of Rolling Prairie, Ind., died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born September 18, 1915 in Elkhart, Ind. to the late Earl Long and the late Jessie Pfenning Long and he has lived in the LaPorte area most of his life. Mr. Long was a dairy farmer for 40 years and retired in 1978 he then went to work for the State Highway Department and worked for 10 years and retired in 1988. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On May 28, 1947 in Otis, Ind. he married Ruth Miller who preceded him in death on April 15, 1988 He is also survived by his Daughter, Mrs. Susan M. Loren Marley of Carmel, Ind.; Son, Mr. Jon E. Long of Rolling Prairie, Ind.; Two grandchildren, Kristin Marley and Andrea Marley; Three Sisters, Mrs. Virginia L. Thompson of Lakeland, Fla., Mrs. Ruth L. Hagglund of Bowling Green, Ky., and Mrs. M. Jean Terry of La Porte, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and Two Brothers, Mr. Maurice A. Long and Mr. Paul W. Long. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 13, 2006 and Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday July 14, 2006 from 10:00 AM until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Trinity Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM Friday, July 14, 2006, Rev. Carl Fitchett officiating. Interment will be at Pinhook Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
