Charlotte P. Hartmann, 91, 2002 Andrew Avenue, died at 9 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2007, at her residence surrounded by her family following a long illness. She enjoyed visiting with her children and adored her great and great-great grandchildren and looked forward to sharing time with them. She was very proud of her grandchildren and the accomplishments they achieved. For many of her grandchildren she was their number one "babysitter" giving her children a respite for work, travel or free time. She loved to dance and was an ardent handicrafter, making a variety of craft gifts for friends and family. She was eager to offer small crafted crosses as a gift for special occasions or religious holidays. For many years she worked diligently gathering and sorting stamps as a benefit program for Bethany Lutheran Church, where she had been a member for more than 50 years. In her younger days she spent many hours playing the organ in her home and served as a Cub Scout den mother as well as being active in the Mothers of World War II and clubs involved with her church and local postal employees. She was a loyal neighbor, friend and church member. She especially loved spending time visiting with her neighbors and close friends, sharing stories about her children and grandchildren. Erik Bernth of Augusburg Lutheran Church, Porter, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour before the service at the funeral home.
