Charles W. Wheatbrook September 30, 1925-December 25, 2009 Mr. Charles H. Wheatbrook, 84, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, died Friday December 25, 2009 at La Porte Hospital. He was born September 30, 1925 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Charles Wheatbrook Sr. and Eliza McNeal Wheatbrook. Charles was the owner and operator of Wheatbrook Home Center for 64 years and retired in 2007, his busniess was his life. He was a member of the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church. Charles had received the Sagamore of the Wabash award from the State of Indiana. He was a charter member for 63 years of the Kankakee Township Volunteer Fire Department and Assistant Fire Chief for 20 years. He also was a member of the Loins Club, Gleaners and he was a veteran of the US Navy during WW II. He enjoyed boating, golfing and traveling all over the world. On September 30, 1945, in La Porte, IN, he married Dorothy L. Reese Wheatbrook who survives. He is also survived by his three sons Thomas Jackie Wheatbrook of Rolling Prairie, IN, Daniel Rita Wheatbrook of La Porte, IN, Timothy Paula Wheatbrook of Rolling Prairie, IN; six grandchildren Kevin Nicole Wheatbrook, Suzanne Ted Jarka, Alieshia Steve Marvel, Todd Wheatbrook, Derek Kelley Williams, Ryan Williams; and eleven great grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and five sisters. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Monday, December 28, 2009 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. and Tuesday, December 29, 2009 10:00 am until time of the service at the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church. Services will be held at the Church, Tuesday December 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dorothy Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana. The Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association service will be held 6:30 pm Monday at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church, 3376 E.
