Mr. Charles A. Lucas, 72, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Saturday April 10, 2004 at the LaPorte Hospital. Mr. Lucas was born on January 10, 1932, to Joe and Lela Philbeak Luker, in Pine Hill Kentucky. He had lived in the LaPorte area for 5 years coming from California. He served in the US Army for 20 years, retiring in 1973. Mr. Lucas also worked for the San Bernardino Co. Juvenile Center for 11 years, retiring in 1998. He was a life time member of the American Legion Post # 14, San Bernardino, California. Surviving are one son; Michael W. Wanda Lucas Sr. of Kingsport, Tennessee, special companion; Beverly W. Ferguson of LaPorte, Indiana, two grandchildren; Michael Lucas Jr. and Samantha Roller, two step-grandchildren; Diane Weatherly and Pattie Woods, one great grandchild, three step-grandchildren, and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son Charles M. Lucas. Services will be Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at the Haverstock Funeral Home, with Rev. Doug Hadley officiating. Friends may call Tuesday, April 13, 2004 from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
