Charles Kautz

Charles E. Kautz August 3, 1940-June 25, 2017 Charles E. Kautz, 76, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born August 3, 1940 in Pipestone, Minnesota, the son of Gerald Kautz and Myrtle (Dankert) Kautz. Charles was involved in 4-H, American Legion of Fish Lake, and the Falcon's. He enjoyed playing, coaching, and sponsoring sports in LaPorte through the Parks and Recreation Dept. Charles was a Cubs fan and enjoyed the "Louie's Breakfast Club". He is survived by his best friend / life partner, Shirley Pickney of La Porte, IN; four daughters, Sharon (Wendell) Bormet of La Porte, IN, Tracy (Jeff) Corwin of Charleston, SC, Kelly (Reese) Grage of La Porte, IN, Karry (Jerry) Gray of La Porte, IN; three sons, Chuck (Wendy) Kautz of La Porte, IN, Carl (Melissa) Cunningham of La Porte, IN, and Corey McKinney of Westville, IN; twenty grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dave Kautz, Tom (Helen) Kautz, and Gary (Candi) Kautz; sister, Terri (Bill) Chambers; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Kautz. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, June 28, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, June 29, 2017, from 9:00 a.m., until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Sally Wicks officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana.
