Charles T. Johnson 'Chuck' January 31, 1936 - January 14, 2016 Charles T. Johnson age 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 14, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his children, Larry (late Patricia) Byrd, Brenda (Dale) Kilgore and Debra Johnson; loving companion, Dean Dove; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Theda (Charles) Marlow, Margaret (late Steve) Taylor, C.J. (Betty) Johnson, Adeline (Elmer) Hudson, Anna Lou (Richard) Worley and Steve (Oma) Johnson; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Verna Mae Johnson; parents, Shafter and Rebecca Johnson; brother, Bill Johnson and stepson, Ron Byrd. Chuck proudly served our country in the US Army and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1130. He previously owned and operated Johnson's Blacktop and Trucking. He also owned the Union Cafe in Union Mills for 4 years. He enjoyed traveling and Blue Grass music. Happy Birthday Charlie! Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Avenue LaPorte, IN with Pastor Steve Johnson officiating. Interment to follow at Springville Cemetery, LaPorte. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
