Mr. Chancy Edwin Barnes, age 91, of 173 Regency Parkway, La Porte, Ind., died Saturday, February 18, 2006, at Sterling House in Valparaiso, Ind. He was born October 31, 1914 in LaPorte, Indiana to the late Clarence Barnes and the late Florence Barnes and has lived in the LaPorte area most of his life. Mr. Barnes was employed as an Assistant Vice President by Citizen's Bank and was a member of Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church. He was also a member of and held several offices in Valparaiso, LaPorte and Rolling Prairie Lion's Clubs and Past Deputy District Governor of District 25 A, member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He had served the Civilian Conservation Corps in California for 6 months during WW II they built roads etc. stateside. On June 7, 1936 in LaPorte, Indiana he married Cleo Wallace who preceded him in death May 2, 1998. He is survived by his One Daughter, Mrs. Amelia Ruth Gingerich of Valparaiso, Ind.; Four grandchildren; Two great-grandchildren; and Three step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, One Daughter, Kay Darlene MacInnis; Two Sisters, Gladys Swan, Idabelle Robinson; Three Brothers, Keith Barnes, Earl Barnes, and Richard Barnes. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., A Private Graveside Funeral Service will be at Graceland Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum Wednesday, February 22, 2006, Rev. David Tripp officiating. Entombment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rolling Prairie Loin's Club or Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church.
