Carol Lynn Childress September 29, 1949-September 13, 2015 Mrs. Carol Lynn Childress, 65, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Sunday September 13, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. She was born September 29, 1949 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Clifford Halter and Leah (Stewart) Halter. She loved sailing, crocheting and reading. On March 22, 1969, in La Porte, IN, she married William Childress Jr. who preceded her in death April 26, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Anne (Gary) Dumont of Oak Ridge, TN; son, Erik Childress of Rolling Prairie, IN; four grandchildren, Michele (Bradley) Rae, Chris Tibor, Kasey Petty, Weslie Childress; three great grandchildren; brother, Barry (Colleen) Halter of Rolling Prairie, IN. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, September 17, 2015, from 3:00 pm, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday September 17, 2015 at 7:00 pm with Rev. Ransom Ebersole officiating.
