Mr. Carl G. Johnson, 91, of 1900 Andrew Ave. LaPorte, Indiana, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 in LaPorte Hospital. Mr. Johnson was born September 3, 1913 in Mill Creek, IN to Herman A. and Emily J. Mitchell Johnson, who has proceeded. Mr. Johnson lived all of his life in the LaPorte area. On July 16, 1933 in New Carlisle, Indiana, he married Mary R. Bennitt, who proceeded, June 8, 2004. Also preceded are three brothers, Ralph and Herman and Floyd. Two sisters, Mrs. Alta Hinderliter, and Mrs. Alpha Keller. Mr. Johnson was a Fire Chief for LaPorte Fire Department, from 1964 to 1968, worked as a fireman for 24 years; Mr. Johnson also worked for Floyd Johnson refrigeration for 11 years, between 1930 and 1940, Mr. Johnson and Floyd ran a Service station in LaPorte, IN, also worked at KOP during WWII. Mr. Johnson was a member of the First Christian Church, former member of LaPorte F.O.P. #54 and LaPorte Elk?s member of Elk?s club #432 of Michigan City, IN. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Indiana Fire Chief?s Association, Graduated from Stillwell School in 1932. The Funeral will be a private family service held at Haverstock Funeral Home on Sunday April 3, 2005, with Rev. Rick Abbott and Rev. Susan Eggleston officiating. Friends may call on Saturday April 2, 2005 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Haverstock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
