Mr. Carl T. Baker, age 76, of 2652 W. CR 950 S., Union Mills, Ind., died Friday, January 20, 2006, at 2:30 AM at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born March 4, 1929 in LaPorte, IN. to the late Harry Baker and the late Lillian Mitchell Baker, and he has been a resident of the Union Mills area for many years. Mr. Baker was retired from Kaisers of Wanatah, IN. where he worked for 20 years. Prior to Kaisers he worked at Plimpton Press for 20 years. He was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Union Mills American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. He was an Avid hunter and loved cooking. He was a very Modest Man, he did not have a wide circle of friends, and he was a simple country guy. He is survived by his One Daughter, Mrs. Londa Jim Smith of La Porte, Ind.; Four Sons, Mr. Carl Jane Baker of New Market, Md., Mr. David Pam Baker of Kingsford Heights, Ind., Mr. Ben Sheryl Baker of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Craig Baker of Hanna, Ind.; Four Sisters, Mrs. Laura Hill of La Porte, Ind., Mrs. Sara Sims of Hudson Lake, Ind., Mrs. Jane Meyers of Niles, Mich.. Mrs. June Searing of Oregon; One Brother, Mr. Walter Baker of La Porte, Ind.; Twelve grandchildren, and Five great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2006 and from 10:00 AM Monday January 23, 2006 until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Monday, January 23, 2006, Rev. Carl Galloway officiating. Interment will be at Union Mills Cemetery in Union Mills, Ind. A graveside Military Service will be conducted by the Union Mills American Legion on Monday January 23, 2006.
