Burl Collings

Mr. Burl G. Collings, 77, of 69029 State Road 23, Walkerton, Indiana passed away Thursday July 1, 2004 at his daughter residence in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mr. Collings was a life long resident of the LaPorte County area. Born May 5, 1927 in LaPorte to Grover Gilbert and Violet Anderson Catron Collings, who preceded. On March 7, 1981 in Walkerton, Indiana he married Joanna Potts Addison, who preceded July 20, 1999. He was employed by Bates and Rogers Construction of Downer?s Grove, Illinois and retired in 1994. He also was a fifty year member of Kingsbury Lodge #222 F&M, member of International brotherhood of Operating Engineers Local #150. He entered the U.S. Army during WWII on Victory over Japan Day and served until 1947. Surviving are one daughter; Robin Ann Albert of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, one son; Ricky G. Collings of Madison, Ohio, four grandsons; Shane Collings of Birmingham, Alabama, Kyle and Travis Collings of Madison, Ohio and Kevin Noble of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, three great-granddaughters; Kayla, Kelsey and Jenna, five brothers; Jack Collings of LaPorte, Norvan Zeb Collings of North Liberty, Indiana, Rev. Eugene Collings of Elyria, Ohio, Ira Shorty Lee Collings of New York, New York, Harold Collings of Kingsbury, Indiana, one sister; Eloise of LaPorte. Mr. Collings was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister; June Deitch. A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m.Wednesday July 7, 2004 at Haverstock Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene Collings officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, Indiana with military honors by American Legion Post #83. A Masonic service will be performed on Tuesday July 6, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. by the Kingsbury Lodge #222 F&M at the funeral home.
