Mr. Billy Carl Baker, age 81, of 304 Dickson Creed Rd., P.O. Box 177, Conner, Mont. 59827, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at 1:30 PM at White Co. Medical Center in Searcy, Ark. He was born December 23, 1924 in LaPorte, Ind. to the late Arthur Baker and the late Lillie Ahlgrim Baker. Mr. Baker has lived in Conner Montana for 15 years moving there from LaPorte, Ind. Mr. Baker was employed for 28 years by the LaPorte Fire Department and was the Assistant Chief when he retired in 1975. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. He was also a life member of LaPorte Historical Society, the F.O.P. of LaPorte, and the NRA. He was a Veteran of the US Navy during WW II and he was an avid fisherman and hunter. On December 8, 1956 in LaPorte, Ind. he married Patricia Ann Swanson who survives. He is also survived by One Daughter, Mrs. Peggy Gary Nelson of Homer, Alaska; One Son, Mr. Brian Sue Baker of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Two Grandchildren, Kimberly Baker and Andrew Baker both of Grand Rapids, Mich. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, February 12, 2006 and from 9:00 AM Monday until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 10:00 AM Monday, February 13, 2006, with Rev. Victor M. Frohne officiating. Interment will be at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte Co. Historical Society or to the donor's choice.
