Billie Jean Sabau August 8, 1924-August 28, 2015 Billie Jean Sabau, 91, of Walkerton, Indiana, died Friday August 28, 2015 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte, IN. She was born August 8, 1924 in Allegan, Michigan, the daughter of William Schoolcraft and Lola (Whitford) Schoolcraft. Billie Jean worked for 20 years as a switchboard operator for St. Margaret's Hospital, she also worked at St. Catherine's Hospital for 15 years. Billie Jean graduated from Allegan High School. She was an avid bowler, and enjoyed riding her bike, she loved her dogs. Billie Jean loved being with her family. She was married on July 21, 1976 to Gabriel Sabau, who preceded her in death, February 21, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Terry) Wood of Walkerton, IN; grandchild, Christie (Jorge) Lopez of Michigan City, IN; and great-granddaughter, Felicity Lopez. Billie Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson, Michael E. Hurd. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, August 31, 2015, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday August 31, 2015 at 12:00 pm with her daughter, Debra Wood, officiating. Cremation will take place. A Burial of Ashes will take place at the Maplewood Cemetery, Crown Point, Indiana. at a later date.
