Bill Hudgins Sr.

Mr. Bill E. Hudgins Sr., 56, of La Porte, died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at 8:02 a.m. at a residence in La Porte. He was born Oct. 26, 1950, in Ashville, N.C., to Fred and Marcia Chlebowski Hudgins, and had lived most of his life in the La Porte area. Mr. Hudgins was a tree surgeon supervisor for Tree Man for 26 years. He was a member of VFW, American Legion, PNA and Eagles, all in La Porte. He enjoyed playing with his dog, Sam, and fishing and hunting. He was a Chicago Bears fan and loved gardening, his music and dancing. He was a Vietnam veteran. On May 22, 1971, in La Porte, he married Susan Wakeman, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Candace Steve Dobben and Mindy, both of La Porte; two sons, Bill Jr. Amanda and Brad, both of La Porte; five grandchildren, Amanda, Abby and Allison Dubbs, Drew Hudgins and Aaron Dobben; two sisters, Marcia Wellinski of La Porte and Judy Bolakowski of Rolling Prairie; and two brothers, Fred Jr. and Ken, both of La Porte. His parents preceded him in death. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Nordquist officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.
