Betty Ramsey

Betty Ramsey May 22, 1921-December 22, 2016 Betty Jane Clayton Ramsey, 95, passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2016 in Cedar City, Utah. She was born on May 22, 1921 in La Porte, Indiana to Peter H. and Ila Hubbard Clayton. Betty attended business college and worked as secretary for Mill Creek elementary school. She was a life-long member of Salem Chapel United Methodist church. She was organist there for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, and the "cream pie" lady at the church booth at the La Porte County Fair. Betty loved her family and her kitty. She enjoyed growing flowers, watching the Cubs, baking and reading. She enjoyed traveling with her family. Betty was especially happy that the Cubs won the series this year! Betty is survived by her children: Dennis (Barbara) Ramsey of Brownstown, IN, Leslie (Clarena) Ramsey of La Porte, IN and Janet (Tom, deceased) Ackart of Cedar City, UT, 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude H. Ramsey, her parents, Peter and Ila Clayton, her brothers, Vernon and Lloyd of La Porte, IN and her sister Ione Andrews also of La Porte. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 7, 2017, from 9:00 am, until time of service at the Salem Chapel United Methodist Church. A life celebration will be held at the church, Saturday January 7, 2017 at 10:00 am with Pastor Brian White officiating. Interment will follow at the Salem Cemetery, La Porte, IN.
