Betty Jane Hoeppner, 83, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday February 2, 2011 at Golden Living Fountainview. She was born April 7, 1927 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Emil V. Gust and Bessie Stahl Gust. Betty was married to Richard Platt from 1946 to 1948. She then married Merlin Hoeppner from 1949 to 1968. Betty had lived with Jack Davis from 1989, until he passed away in 1999. Betty had worked for American Home Foods for 6 years and really enjoyed working at Wendy's Restaurant for 7 1/2 years, retiring in 1993. She attended the LaPorte Assembly of God Church, until moving to Fountainview Nursing Home in 2004. She is survived by her three sons - Frank Kathy Hoeppner of La Porte, IN, Jerry Hoeppner of Atlanta, GA, and Jim Linda Platt of La Porte, IN. Betty was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Hoeppner, brother, Robert Gust, brother, Emil Gust, Jr., nephew, Michael Gust, and sister-in-law, Rosie Gust. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends, Friday, February 4, 2011 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 9:00 am, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday February 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Jeff Hines officiating. Interment will follow at the St. John Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 601 West Edison Road Mishawaka, IN 46545.
