Mrs. Betty J. Fisher, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, died Wednesday July 15, 2009 at Hamilton Communities, Inc. in New Carlisle, IN. She was born June 19, 1922 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Brenton Rinehart and Hazel Jones Rinehart. Betty worked as a gift buyer for Levine's Department Store for fifteen years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of LaPorte Missionary Church. Betty enjoyed camping; she loved eating out, picking berries and making jam. On June 21, 1941, in Purvis, MS, she married Elude T. Fisher who preceded her in death on January 8, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Carole Tom Sharp of Mill Creek, IN; son, Jeffrey Elaine Fisher of Mishawaka, IN; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Gary Fisher; two brothers, Norman Rinehart, Milton Rinehart and one great-grandchild, Joshua Theiss. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Friday, July 17, 2009 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm cst & Saturday, July 18, 2009 from 8:30 am cst, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday July 18, 2009 at 9:30 am cst, with Rev. Hugh Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's Choice or Alzheimer's Association 9135 N. Meridian St. STE. B-4 Indianapolis, IN. 46209-7109.
