Bessie Reeder

Bessie B. Reeder, 103, of LaPorte, IN, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Golden Living Center-Countryside in LaPorte. She was born March 21, 1908 in North Liberty, Indiana, the daughter of Edward Vermilyer and Nancy (Cannan) Vermilyer. Bessie was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Friendship Evening Circle, VFW Auxilliary (Mother's of VFW), and Ladies of the Moose Lodge for many years. Bessie will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her. On November 9, 1926, in LaPorte, IN, she married Theodore A. Reeder who preceded in death December 15, 1980. She is survived by her daughter - Carol (Richard) Lidgard of La Porte, IN; two sons - Don Reeder of Palm Bay, FL, Kenneth (Vesta) Reeder of Ora, IN; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great- grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Lois Reeder of La Porte, IN. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, LeRoy Reeder, six sisters, Hattie Boyce, Loretta Vermilyer, Blanche Vermilyer, Florence Swanson, Elma Freeland, Marg Capshaw, two brothers, Charles Vermilyer, Ernest Vermilyer, infant brothers, Raymond & Melvin Vermilyer, grandson, Brian Reeder, son-in-law, Richard Snyder, and daughter-in-law, Mary Reeder. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, April 15, 2011 from 10:00 am, until time of services. Service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday April 15, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Helen Nusbaum officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.
