Bessie Hicks

Mrs. Bessie Mae Hicks, age 96, of New Carlisle, Ind., died Monday, June 19, 2006, at 6:00 PM at Miller's Merry Manor in New Carlisle, Ind. She was born February 27, 1910 in Nobob, Kentucky to the late Scott Webb and the late Daisy Coucher Webb. She has lived most of her life in the LaPorte area. Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker and was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary, and a Gold Star Mother. On July 3, 1929 in Michigan City, Ind. she married Orval Hicks who preceded her in death July 4, 1979. She is survived by her One Daughter, Mrs. Betty Fredenburg of Rolling Prairie, Ind.; Nineteen grandchildren; Twenty One great-grandchildren; and Twelve great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Parents; Husband; Five Sons, Ben Hicks, Dale Hicks, Danny Hicks, Ivan Hicks, Scott Hicks; and One Daughter, Fay Miller. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. A Graveside service will be at Posey Chapel Cemetery at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 22, 2006, Michael Heddens officiating. Interment will be at Posey Chapel Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
