Bessie Aikman

Mrs. Bessie M. Aikman, age 91, of Hamlet, Ind., died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Hamilton Communities in New Carlisle, Ind. She was born on May 14, 1916 in Boswell, New Mexico to the late Clarence H. Morrison and the late Inez Burden Morrison. Also preceded in death is a daughter, Bonnie Tanksley, three brothers, Andrew Morrison, Harry Morrison, Clarence"Skeezix" Morrison, and a sister, Gladis Martin. On March 15, 1938 in LaPorte, Indiana, she was married to George R. Aikman Sr, who preceded December 3, 1991. Mrs. Aikman worked for Scott-Foresman and Co. as a Book Packer for numerous years. She is survived by her Two Sons, Mr. Edward C. Susan Aikman of Hamlet, Ind. George R. Rosemary Aikman, Jr. of La Porte, Ind. Nine grandchildren, and Sixteen Great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 30, 2008, and from 9:00 AM Thursday May 1, 2008 until time of service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 1, 2008 , with Rev. Ronald Devenport, officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mill Creek, Ind.
