Benjamin E. Johnson April 20, 1924-October 12, 2016 Benjamin E. Johnson, 92, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday October 12, 2016 at Brentwood Assisted Living in LaPorte, IN. He was born April 20, 1924 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Benjamin S. Johnson and Beatrice (George) Johnson. Ben was retired from New York Blower. He was a retired member of the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed yard work and gardening. He married Vera Smith Johnson who preceded in death April 20, 1997. He is survived by his two sisters, June Wearp of Riverside, CA, Lorraine Ackerson of Kingsford Heights, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Benjamin was preceded in death by parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, Michigan.
