Beatrice Lain

Beatrice L. "Bea" Lain, 96, of New Carlisle, Indiana, died Thursday August 20, 2009 at Millers Merry Manor-New Carlisle. She was born July 13, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Julius Landwer and Alma Klein Landwer. Beatrice worked as a laborer for Pullman Standard for ten years; she was also a housekeeper at Cassidy Motel in LaPorte for nineteen years. Beatrice was an avid bingo player; she enjoyed attending bible study at the nursing home. On June 27, 1936, in Michigan City, IN, she married Kenneth Lain who preceded her in death February 25, 1997. She is survived by her daughter, Carol William Wesch of La Porte, IN; son, Larry Debbie Lain of La Porte, IN; brother, Robert Landwer of La Porte, IN; Eight Grandchildren, Nine Great-Grandchildren and One Great- Great Grandchild. Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm & Monday, August 24, 2009 9:00 am, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday August 24, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Interment will follow at the Springville Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
