Barbara Jean Wallace June 12, 1937-June 5, 2014 Barbara Jean Wallace, 76, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday, June 5, 2014 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born June 12, 1937 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of James S. Gourley and Cleta (Newland) Gourley. Barbara worked ten years for Hamilton Grove Community. Barbara enjoyed horseback riding, motorcycle riding, crocheting, knitting, and collecting horse figurines. She especially loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her life partner, Reinie Shippee of Rolling Prairie, IN.; daughter, Dawn M. (Kevin) Bennett of Warren, IN; three sons, Nicholas L. (Racheal) Wallace of Butler, IN, Marshall F. Wallace of South Bend, IN, Chad (Shannon) Shippee; two brothers, James S. (Faye) Gourley of Portage, IN, Charles R. (Tonya) Gourley of La Porte, IN; fifteen grandchildren, Ashley Campbell, Allie Bennett, Lindsie Smoker, William J. Wallace, Dinah Wallace, Trina Wallace, Brian Wallace, Casey Wallace, Lance Jackson, Kymberly Zoll, Haley Wallace, Keigaan Wallace, Noah Wallace, Nicholas L Wallace IV, Austin Shippee, and eleven great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, son William J. Wallace, and one brother, Robert Gourley. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Cremation will take place.
