Barbara Kelley

Barbara E Kelley, 95, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024 at Settlers Place in La Porte, IN.

She was born March 24, 1929 in Laporte, Indiana, the daughter of John Kepcha and Jane (Trueax) Kepcha.

A proud graduate of Union Township School, Barbara’s commitment to service was evident throughout her life. On June 4, 1949, in LaPorte, IN, she married the love of her life, John "Jay" Kelley who preceded her in death December 20, 2013. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. J. Logan Ballard for many years, where her interpersonal skills and compassionate nature made her a cherished presence for patients and staff. Barbara was an active member of the Over Forty Dance Club, the senior bowling league, and Gleaners-Mill Creek Arbor. She enjoyed volunteering her time for food drives giving to those in need. Above all she enjoyed traveling and spending her time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which were the light of her day. She will be missed by all. 

She is survived by her son, Dennis (Linda) Kelley of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Lynn (Robert) Bline of Rolling Prairie, IN; four grandchildren, John (Macey) Kelley, Brent (Anna) Kelley, Conner (Carly) Kelley, Chrissi Bline; five great-grandchildren, Logan Bline, Cameron Kelley, Luella Kelley, Cooper Jay Kelley, Aven Kelley; best friend, Jane Stephani; special friend and gentleman companion, George Thompson; 

Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, her parents, grandchild, Matthew Bline, four brothers, John L, Darwin, Robert, Harlon, and four sisters, Mildred, Doris, Kathryn, Hazel.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends for a visitation Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tim Ahlemeyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana.
