August Hesters

August C. Hesters July 10, 1925-January 31, 2016 Mr. August C. Hesters, 90, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Sunday January 31, 2016 at Miller's Health and Rehab in LaPorte, IN. He was born July 10, 1925 in Mill Creek, Indiana, the son of Victor Hesters and Germaine (DeMunck) Hesters. August was a farmer and drove truck hauling grain for over 60 years. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War and served as a M.P. He was a 4-H leader, member of the American Legion Post 83 of LaPorte, Moose Lodge #492 of LaPorte, Polish Falcons, and was a charter member of the Pleasant Twp. Volunteer Fire Department and was a 50 year member of the fire department. He spent time painting farm equipment. Loved snowmobiling, and driving truck. On June 10, 1974, in Benton Harbor, MI, he married Phyllis M. Myers Hesters who preceded in death April 26, 2012. He is survived by his three sons, Ronald (Jeri) Hesters of La Porte, IN, Jerome Hesters of La Porte, IN, David (Pamela) Hesters of Rolling Prairie, IN; Two Step-Daughters, Karen (John) Yates of La Porte, IN, Sandra (Norm) Tyson of Westville, IN; sister, Lucille (Steve) Bubalo of Wheatfield, IN; brother, Richard (Annette) Hesters of Walkerton, IN; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. August was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Gregory Hesters, sister, Marie Kelly Green, sister, Norma Jean Hesters. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, February 3, 2016, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm CST. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday February 3, 2016 at 7:00 pm CST with Mr. Norm Tyson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Twp.
