Ardith Leksa

Mrs. Ardith E. Leksa, age 98, of Winamac, Ind., died 3:33 PM Saturday, September 30, 2006, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. She was born January 14, 1908 in Robinson, Ill. to the late Arthur Broadstone and the late Christine Lionberger Broadstone. She lived in the LaPorte County and Winamac Ind. area most of her life. Mrs. Leksa was a food service supervisor for the University of Missouri and was a school teacher. She was a member of First Christian Church Of Winamac. She was also a member of Pulaski Co. Human Services - Honored as the senior volunteer of 1997. She enjoyed designing and hand-stitching, she made countless, lovely hand-crafted bed quilts, she was quick to laugh and make a joke, and loved nature. She will be missed by her family and friends. . On August 8, 1928 in Chicago, Ill. she married Frank Leksa who preceded in death August 31, 1987. She is also survived by Two grandchildren, Loretta Johnson of Caledonia, Mich., Douglas Marland of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Four great-grandchildren, and her Brother, Mr. John Broadstone of Bethany, Mo. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. A graveside service will be at Pine Lake Cemetery at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 5, 2006.
