Anton Stark

Anton W. Stark passed away in Oro Valley, Arizona on February 20, 2008. He entered this world on June 22, 1922 in Grovertown, Indiana, as the first son of Valentine and Clara Roser Stark. On May 30, 1942, he married Carrol Louise Dawson who passed away December 2006. Their family include three children, Carolyn Stark Drew, Al Stark, Marcia Stark; their grandchildren, Jennifer Stark Xabier Beristain, Kimberlyn J. Drew Andrew Moore, Alexander Stark; and one great granddaughter, Phoebe Anne Drew Moore. His survivors include his immediate family; Mr. & Mrs. Bernhardt Stark, along with Louise Dawson and Mr. & Mrs. A.C. Hill, and nieces and nephews. His sister Frances Kuta, Brother, Martin and Brother-in-law Warren Dawson preceded him in death. Anton retired from Allis Chalmers after 41 years as an electrician. For 60 years, he was an active member of the LaPorte Masonic Lodge and South Bend Scottish Rite. Other community activities included serving in leadership positions with UAW Local 1319, Rolling Prairie PTA, LaPorte Elks Lodge, and committee groups of The LaPorte First United Methodist Church. Since the closing of Allis Chalmers, he represented the retirees by serving on the Board of Directors of the Allis Chalmers Retiree Trust Fund. The family will receive callers at the Haverstock Funeral Home from 2:30 to 4:30 and 6:00 to 8:30 PM on Tuesday evening; during which a Masonic Lodge ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. His funeral will be held at the First United Methodist Church, LaPorte, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday February 27, 2008.
