Anne Weinstock of Rolling Prairie, who had been living at Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle since September, died Wednesday, January 12. Mrs. Weinstock was born July 4, 1916 in St. Louis, Mo., to Harry and Rose Nekimken. She married Dr. Adolph Weinstock on March 27, 1937 in Pennsylvania. In 1947 the Weinstocks moved to Rolling Prairie, where he established a medical practice. Survivors include: her husband Adolph, Hamilton Grove; sister Lorraine Tarmon, Israel; daughters Marta Ralph Nicholas, Chicago, Susan Eckhard Polzer, Munich, Germany, Diana James Duda, Glenwood, Ill. and sons Daniel Lisa Parr Weinstock, Chicago, and Joseph Wiwied Weinstock, Manila, Philippines. Grandchildren are Tara and Elena Polzer; Todd and Jennifer Duda; Forrest, Savannah, Coral, and Agri Weinstock. She was preceded in death by three brothers Frank, Sam, and Elic. Following their move to Indiana from Colorado, where Adolph was serving in the Veteran?s Administration, Mrs. Weinstock was instrumental in organizing the PTA, and other educational and cultural activities, in the schools and general area of Rolling Prairie. Mrs. Weinstock served on the TB Association, Mental Health Association, and LaPorte County Cancer Society boards. She was recognized by Educational Tape Recording for the Blind for her years of service recording books. Mrs. Weinstock was a member of LaPorte Women?s Literary Society, and was extremely active in LaPorte Little Theater. Her experience as a costume designer before marriage continued with her local work in schools and area theaters. She served as costume coordinator for the 1976 Bicentennial Wagon Train. She was well-known for public speaking on topics from social justice to Jewish holidays to amusing presentations about hats. Mrs. Weinstock?s activities also included: Boy and Girl Scout leadership, teaching classes at Sinai Temple, Michigan City; Rolling Prairie Lionettes, Rolling Prairie Gleaners; LaPorte Camera Club, LaPorte Council on Aging Indiana Senior Queen and delegate to a national Council on Aging conference in Washington, D.C.. Anne and Adolph shared a passion for folk dancing that took them around the world; as charter members of the LaPorte Chapter of People-to-People International, they received Lifetime Achievement Recognition in 2003. They also taught folk dancing on Elderhostel trips. The Weinstocks frequently hosted international visitors at their Rolling Prairie home. A memorial service will be Monday, January 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the service.
