Amber Lanie

Amber Sue Lanie, 78, of Hamlet, Indiana, passed away Tuesday July 2, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born May 19, 1946 in Kingsport, Tennessee, the daughter of John Christian and Mavis (Lockhart) Christian.

A longtime resident of the La Porte area, Amber attended and was baptized at the 1st Christian Church of Knox. She loved horses, and began riding in the 1970's. Over the years Amber owned many horses and won many ribbons for showing them. She was an avid movie attendee and was also a nature lover. Amber enjoyed planting in her flower garden and looking at the various birds and butterflies they attracted.

She is survived by her son, Dennis James (Katrina) Lanie of La Porte, IN; two sisters, Sheila Radloff of Hamlet; Phyllis Jean Buchanan of NC; two nephews, Anthony Maitland of Indianapolis, IN, Joseph (Wenonah) Maitland of Rochester, IN; five grandchildren, Damon, Lucas, Sydney, Dominic, Austin; good friends, Roger (Ina) Bailey of Hamlet.

Amber was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Johnny Christian.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon). A life celebration will be held at 12 (noon) at the funeral home, with Church Elder Roger Bailey, 1st Christian Church of Knox, officiating. Interment will follow at the Door Village Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
