Allen Harness

Allen "Dale" Harness, 62, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away on Monday April 18, 2011 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Michigan City, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 24, 1948 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Elbert Harness and Virginia (Okrzesik) Harness. Allen loved to travel and the outdoors; he was a great story teller. He enjoyed his special friends in Oregon. Allen loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his four daughters - Holly (Brian Cable) Harness of Hamlet, IN, Kelly (Bryan Steele) Owens of South Bend, IN, Dawn (James) Lewis of Rolling Prairie, IN, Crystal (Richard) Byrd of Marion, IL; three sons - John (Crystal) Center of Jacksonville, FL, Jeffrey Center of Donaldson, IN, Eric Sanchez of Edinburgh, IN; twenty-six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters - Sheila (Joe) Adams of Rolling Prairie, IN, Linda (Joaquin "Yogi") Torres of La Porte, IN. Allen was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 9:00 am, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday April 21, 2011 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family of Allen D. Harness c/o of Haverstock Funeral Home.
