Alice Standefer

Alice Standefer April 1, 1936-September 11, 2015 Alice Standefer, 79, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday, September 11, 2015 at Golden Living Center-Countryside in LaPorte, IN. She was born April 1, 1936 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Charles C. Gloff and Ella Mary (Koes) Gloff. Alice had worked for American Home Foods, she also worked at American Rubber, Vance's Restaurant, and Miller's Merry Manor in New Carlisle. She was a private home caregiver in New Carlisle. (Live in Caregiver.) Alice received special medical certification to care for patients. Alice volunteered at the Salvation Army food pantry serving meals. She enjoyed traveling and visiting people. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Gail Hernandez) Standefer of La Porte, IN; grandchild, Brandon Standefer of La Porte, IN; two brothers, Craig Gloff of La Porte, IN, and Norman Gloff of Taft, TN; two cousins, Joyce Gasaway of Michigan City, IN, and Randy Sparber of WA. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mildred Gilchrist, a nephew, Mark Gilchrist, and aunts, uncles and cousins. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, September 14, 2015, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday September 15, 2015 at 11:00 am Burial of ashes will be held at a later date at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
