Alfred Sparks

Mr. Alfred C. Sparks, age 80, of Kingsford Heights, IN, died Thursday, October 6, 2005, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, IN. He was born August 11, 1925 in Bellair, IL, to Ira Sparks and Nora Livingston Sparks, who has preceded. Mr. Sparks has lived in the LaPorte area, coming from Bellair, IL. Mr. Sparks was married to Sylvia Downey, in Robinson, IL, who preceded on November 30, 1986. Mr. Sparks was employed by Allis Chalmers and was a member of Community Church of Christ Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints He was also a Financial -secretary of the UAW Local 1319 for years, President of Kankakee Valley Boy's Baseball League for 12 years, member of Kingsford-Union Volunteer Fire Dept. for 27 years serving as Treasurer. Played softball in Kingsford Heights. Secretary/Treasurer for Community Center of Kingsford Heights. Surviving is a Daughter, Mrs. Cheryl J. Maurushes of Rolling Prairie, IN, One Son, Mr. Richard C. Sparks of La Porte, IN, One Sister, Mrs. Freda K. Heirs of Pomona, Calif. Mr. Sparks has Four grandchildren, and Six great-grandaughters. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, October 9, 2005, and from 9:00 AM Monday, October 10, 2005 until time of service at Haverstock Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Monday, October 10, 2005 , with Elder James Wheeler officiating. Interment will be at Patton Cemetery in LaPorte, IN.
