Alfred Beck

Mr. Alfred H. Beck, Sr., 76, of Hamlet, Indiana, formerly of LaPorte, IN. died Monday May 25, 2009 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Michigan City, IN. He was born September 5, 1932 in Loris, South Carolina, the son of Van B. Beck and Zadie "Peggy" Rinicker Beck, moving to the LaPorte area in 1960, coming from Florida. Alfred worked in maintenance for the LaPorte Community School Corp. for twenty-six years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Eagles Lodge of LaPorte. Alfred enjoyed camping, gardening, he was an avid reader. Alfred enjoyed spending time with his family. On August 17, 2002, in LaPorte, IN., he married Sandy McClelland, who survives. He is also survived by his; sons, Alfred "Buddy" Kristin Beck, Jr. of Duncan, SC, Robert Marcy Beck of Plant City, FL; daughters, Diane Beck of LaPorte, IN, Lisa Mark Hinz of LaPorte, IN, Barbara Jim Hall of Plant City, FL, Sue Dennis Lott of Plant City, FL; Fourteen Grandchildren, Five Great-grandchildren; brothers Charles E. Rose Beck of Big Sandy, TN, James T. Beck of La Porte, IN; sister, Betty J. Jim Siebenmark of St. Joseph, MI., numerous nieces, nephews, and many loving friends. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Verna Johnson. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, May 29, 2009 from 10:00 am, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday May 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dan McDonald, officiating. Interment will follow at the Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, Indiana.
