Alberta Ruth (Hill) Jones July 1, 1925-June 5, 2014 Alberta Ruth Jones, 88, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday June 5, 2014 at her daughter's residence in Michigan City, IN. She was born July 1, 1925 in Buchanan, Michigan, the daughter of William Harradon and Mollie (Juckett) Harradon. Alberta had worked 27 years for Kingsley Furniture, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Meer Road United Baptist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, baking and cooking. Alberta loved being with her family. On June 11, 1994, in Michigan City, IN, she married Chester Jones who preceded her in death May 7, 2004. On February, 1949 in Westville, IN, she married Owen Hill, who preceded her in death August, 1987. She is survived by her four daughters, Florence Bush of Englewood, CO, Esther Piper of Lakewood, CO, Alberta Nicoles of Hermiston, OR, Linda Clark of Michigan City, IN; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; two sisters, Erma Miller of TN, Charlotte Griner of Three Oaks, MI, and one brother, Franklin Harradon of South Bend, IN. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Owen Hill, second husband, Chester Jones, daughter, Pat Sims, and one sister, Leona Meyer. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Monday, June 9, 2014 from 12:30 pm, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday June 9, 2014 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Fred Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Swan Lake Mausoleum, Michigan City, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family of Alberta R. Jones or Meer Road United Baptist Church.
