Adam Bartmess

Mr. Adam Lee Bartmess, age 97, of 500 Walkerton Trail, Walkerton, Ind., died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at 6:30 AM, at Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton, Ind. He was born April 26, 1908 in Hudson Lake, IN. to the late Loren Bartmess and the late Eva McClentick Bartmess and has lived in the Fish Lake area most of his life. Mr. Bartmess retired in 1974 from Union Carbide after 10 years of service. He was af Veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII, 58 year member of American Legion Post #400, Odd Fellows Lodge, Rose Rebecca Lodge, Highland Beach Assoc. and a founding member of the Fish Lake Conservation Club. On June 29, 1929 in LaPorte, IN. he married Ida Mae Smith who preceded in death April 22, 1996. He is also preceding by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Survivors are One Daughter, Mrs. Alice Winterrod of Oxford, Ohio; One Sister, Mrs. Mae Beth Dysard of La Porte, Ind.; and a close friend Gladys Shenemen of North Liberty, IN. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 28, 2005 and from 10:00 AM until time of the Service on Wednesday. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 29, 2005 , Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Interment will be at Pine Lake Cemetery in La Porte, Ind.
