Aaron L. Johnson Jr, 76, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Regency Hospital in Portage, IN, with his family at his side.

He was born June 20, 1946 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Aaron Johnson Sr. and Frances Miller.

On October 22, 1992, in Rolling Prairie, IN, Aaron married Lynda L. Sutherlin who preceded him in death October 8, 2010. Aaron was also preceded in death by his parents and son, Aaron Roy Johnson.

He is survived by his two step-sons, Scott (Cassie) Vanderpool of Plymouth, IN, Bobby Archer of Michigan City, IN ; three sisters, Rosann Johnson of La Porte, Diane (Peter) Oberholtzer of Rolling Prairie, IN, Jae (Dan) Haneline of La Porte, IN; two grandchildren, Nick Archer of Bend OR, Molly Cook of Dayton, OH; and one great-grandchild, Luna (Molly). He is also survived by his 6 nieces and nephews: Wayne Oberholtzer, New Carlisle, Marie Sipes, New Carlisle, Hannah Frank, Burlington MI, Heather Smith, South Bend, Laura Wolf, La Porte and Adelle Brown, Rolling Prairie.

A lifelong resident of the area, Aaron owned A and L Painting along with his wife Lynda, and together they operated it for over 30 years.  Aaron enjoyed constructing both model and RC airplanes in his free time. He often found joy in spending time with his step-sons and sisters, whether it was fishing or sitting in front of the TV watching NASCAR.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Cremation will take place.
